Mr. Chu runs a small factory in an industrial building in Kwai Fong. One day, his
secretary washed her hands and forgot to turn off the tap before she left the office, so water continued to run. The
building management staff confirmed that not only two passenger lifts and one cargo lift were affected, the water also
flooded the neighbouring companies on the same floor as well as the floor below. The building management and the affected
tenants wrote to our Insured holding his company liable for the damage. The total amount claimed was in the region of
HK$1,000,000, not to mention legal costs. Mr. Chu immediately notified HSBC's Claims Services Department. Our claims staff
started negotiations with the claimants and their solicitors, and ultimately settlements were achieved. |
