Hi, I'm Mary Ma. I was born in Fujian and educated at Central University of Finance & Economics in Beijing, where I obtained a Bachelor degree in Economics.
Prior to joining HSBC Insurance Brokers, I served as an account manager to the first foreign insurance and risk management consultants in China where my responsibilities included managing the company's major accounts in North China.
In 1997, I joined HSBC Insurance Brokers as Deputy Representative in the Beijing Representative Office. In addition to developing and maintaining good relationships with government bodies and major Chinese insurance companies, I also assisted in the delivery of risk management and insurance/reinsurance consultancy services to the company's major customers within China. Two years later, I was transferred to Hong Kong as an executive trainee, which widened my international horizons. In 2002, I moved to Shanghai and set up the Shanghai Branch. Since then I have led this office and have contributed to both the business growth and profitability of the Company's operations in East and West China.
On 1 August 2008, I was appointed Deputy General Manager, HSBC Insurance Brokers (China). In my new role, I assist in the management of each of our offices in mainland China and am actively involved in developing future strategies.
I wholeheartedly agree that HSBC Insurance Brokers is "The Best Place to Work". It fully supports localisation while still ensuring that operations are managed to the standard of an international organisation. If you're ready to take the next step, it provides a platform where your contributions will be valued in a fair and timely manner. I've been with HSBC Insurance Brokers for 11 years now, which is perhaps the strongest recommendation of all!
