[ Closing Auction Session has been suspended by HKEx on 23 March 09. Stock market will be closed at 4pm. ]

Closing Auction Session introduced by HKEx starting from 26 May 2008

Starting from 26 May 2008, HKEx will introduce a Closing Auction Session (4:00pm-4:10pm or 12:30pm-12:40pm for half trading day) for local securities market, the closing time of the securities market will be extended for 10 minutes.

Highlights are as follows:

  • All orders outstanding at HKEx at the end of the continuous trading session will be automatically carried forward to the closing session and will be processed by HKEx as at-auction limit orders.
  • Any limit orders once fell within 12 spread range of the day but have not sent or reached HKEx by 4 pm (or 12:30 for half trading day), the Bank will convert them to at-auction limit order and sent to the closing auction session for processing on a best effort basis.
  • Customers can also place at-auction limit order during the closing auction session.
